12 August 2007 > Press launch
The press launch of our book "Prisoners in Java" was held at the Falcon Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon on the morning of Saturday 11th August 2007, on the occasion of the Java FEPOW 1942 Club's AGM. The press launch was at the request of the National Lottery, which helped the Club with the publication costs.
The Royal British Legion led a parade of their own standards and those of the RAFA and the Burma Star Association, with the FEPOWs following.
Along with press representatives, we were delighted to welcome Mr. Terry Waite, the Mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon and military attachés from the US Embassy and the Australian High Commission.
Speeches were given by the Java 1942 Club's chairman, Mr. Bill Marshall and fellow FEPOWs, Mr. Syd Whitehead and Mr. Fred Ryall.
We are delighted to report that this very successful launch received suitable media coverage, details of which are also to be found on this page.
