WORTHING COMMEMORATION TO MARK 75th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FALL OF SINGAPORE

The day was Wednesday 15th February 2017 and the place was Worthing War Memorial when FEPOW Bob Morrell with the Java FEPOW Club's Secretary and Welfare Officer Margaret Martin, daughter of FEPOW Fred Freeman, and Frank Clark, son of FEPOW Victor Clark, gathered at 2pm, with Bob's partner Val, Margaret's husband John, 2 standard bearers, Chairman of the Worthing branch of the Royal British Legion, Janet Goldsborough Jones, her husband Alan Jones, committee members and representatives, of the Worthing branch of the Royal British Legion to pay tribute to those who were lost on that fateful day, 75 years ago, when Singapore fell to the Japanese and the many more thousands who subsequently lost their lives in the camps and hell-ships of South East Asia

Although Janet insisted that it was a FEPOW event, we are very grateful to her for organising it and for arranging for a reporter, from the Worthing Herald, to attend and to interview Bob, Janet and Margaret. The reporter, Jennifer Logan, videoed the commemoration service and streamed it live on Facebook but sadly, due to the rain and the traffic, the sounds are not that good; but we were there and we honoured our FEPOWs.

The interviews can be seen via these links:
